Location: Dundalk

Job Title: Warehouse Operative (Furniture Distribution)

Job Purpose

To support high-volume warehouse operations by unloading containers, handling and storing furniture, and accurately picking and dispatching orders using handheld systems, while ensuring zero damage and high productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Container Unloading & Goods In
  • Unload containers efficiently and safely (team-based unloading)
  • Work to daily targets for container turnaround
  • Check and scan stock using handheld devices (e.g. GenetiQ)
  • Identify and report damages immediately (photos + system logging)
  • Segregate damaged or incorrect stock
  1. Furniture Handling & Storage
  • Handle all furniture with a damage prevention mindset
  • Follow SOPs for lifting, carrying, and placing items (team lifts where required)
  • Put stock away in correct locations using handheld devices
  • Ensure safe stacking and correct use of warehouse space
  • Avoid floor damage by using correct handling methods on cement surfaces
  1. Order Picking & Accuracy
  • Pick orders using handheld scanners (GenetiQ system)
  • Ensure 100% pick accuracy
  • Double-check SKUs, quantities, and product condition
  • Stage orders correctly for dispatch
  1. Wrapping & Protection
  • Wrap furniture to company standard (shrink wrap, blankets, edge protection)
  • Ensure items are secure and protected for transport
  • Take extra care with high-value or delicate items
  1. Dispatch & Loading
  • Load delivery trucks (3.5T and larger) in route order
  • Ensure safe and secure loading to prevent transit damage
  • Cross-check loads against delivery notes
  • Work closely with drivers to ensure smooth dispatch
  1. Stock Control
  • Participate in cycle counts and stock takes
  • Report stock discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate stock records via handheld system
  1. Housekeeping & Standards
  • Maintain clean and organised warehouse areas
  • Keep aisles clear and safe at all times
  • Follow 5S or similar warehouse organisation standards
  1. Health & Safety
  • Follow all warehouse safety procedures
  • Use proper manual handling techniques at all times
  • Wear required PPE (steel toe cap boots mandatory)
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately

Performance Expectations / KPIs

  • Container unload time targets met
  • Picking accuracy: 100% target
  • Minimal product damage (zero-damage culture)
  • Productivity targets (picks per hour / containers per shift)
  • Attendance and punctuality

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a warehouse environment (furniture experience highly desirable)
  • Comfortable using handheld scanning systems (e.g. GenetiQ)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Physically fit for manual handling of bulky items

Working Environment

  • Fast-paced furniture distribution warehouse
  • Handling bulky, heavy, and high-value items
  • Cement flooring – care required in movement and placement
  • Use of pallet trucks, wrapping equipment, and scanning devices
