- Full Story

Over the last week, we have seen the rise of geo-political tensions in the Middle East as they have created significant disruption across global shipping networks. Military strikes have led to heightened security risks across key maritime corridors.

Most notably, Iran has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical shipping routes for global trade. This development, combined with ongoing instability in the Red Sea is already having a direct impact on international ocean transport.

What Does This Mean For Transit Time?

We are currently allowing for up to two weeks of additional transit time.

Although this is necessary, this alternative route is adding complexity and time to global supply chains. Examples of this is that is currently adding 10-14 sailing days are being added to affected services but that is only so far, it is estimated that further delays may arise due to vessel schedule changes, port congestion and container equipment imbalances across regions.

For shipments moving to and from Ireland including Dublin Port, Belfast, and Ringaskiddy we are currently planning for up to two weeks of additional transit time.
